NEW YORK CITY | A uniquely American institution turns 50 years old,  so why not have a pow-wow?

Thunderbird American Indian Dancers is a treasured dance company. Every year, it holds a dance concert and pow wow at Theater for the New City (located at 155 First Avenue in New York).  This will be different because it is the anniversary of the group’s founding, so its Dance Concert and Pow Wow which will take place from January 25 to February 3, 2013,  will be benefit college funds for needy Native American students.

The company’s Pow-Wows have been presented annually as a two-week event by TNC since 1976, with the box office donated to these funds. There will be dances, stories and traditional music from the Iroquois and Native Peoples of the Northwest Coast, the Southwest, the Plains, and the Arctic regions.
